A poem to projection technology
Barco Bragi Cinemascope
The Barco Bragi Cinemascope takes its name from a historical poet from the ninth century. His poems were so outstandingly artistic and moving that later generations believed Odin appointed him court poet of Valhalla after his death.
The Barco Bragi is very similar to the Barco Balder in pucto design language, optical core and lenses. The Barco Bragi features the same PULSE electronics and SW platform powered by a revolutionary new LED engine.
Key Facts:
Professional optics: The optical engine of the Barco Bragi Cinemascope is based on the architecture of its bigger brother “Balder Cinemascope” and includes specially designed aspherical glass elements and improved low dispersion glass lenses. The image quality is in a class of its own.
In addition, the Barco Bragi Cinemascope’s housing and core are made of aluminum and magnesium for exceptional robustness and to enable the best image quality ever shown at this level.
State-of-the-art electronics: thanks to Barco’s unique Single-Step Processing Technology (SSPTM), the Pulse electronics are designed to process 4K UHD, HDMI 2.0a, HDCP 2.2 and HDR10 signals with extremely low latency.
The Barco Bragi Cinemascope uses the latest 0.9-inch DMD DLP chipset to display flawless 5K UHD (5,120 × 2,160 px) images on the screen in a 2.37:1 aspect ratio.
CinemaScope: Barco’s unique aspect ratio detection system automatically crops and scales content to fit the appropriate screen area, ranging from 1.78:1 to 2.39:1.
Manual cropping is also available for custom configurations, such as Cinemascope subtitle support, which removes only the top black bar (letterboxing) and retains subtitles at the bottom of the image.
Colors: By combining HLD LED lighting with normal LED colors that appear more saturated, the human eye is tricked into interpreting this as richer, brighter colors than are physically measured. The Barco Bragi Cinemascope also includes a motorized DCI/P3 filter for improved HDR color accuracy.
In addition, Barco’s RealColor processing allows for easy and accurate calibration to the desired color gamut or white point.
